Baked pears in puff pastry

Today I’m going to share with you how to make baked pear in puff pastry. I love pear and love them raw, in salads, I also love them for dessert served with this chocolate sauce. Pears are one of my favorite fruits to use in desserts. These delicate, fruits are amazing in terms of taste and texture once baked or poached . Baked pears in puff pastry1 (1)Once you’ve poached there are multiple ways of serving them, but my favorite versions is wrapped in puff pastry, with chocolate sauce. Totally easy and impressive presentation.
I think this is a amazing dessert to offer for a special dinner with guests or just something special for your family! Also these is perfect treat to serve on Thanksgiving or Christmas.

Baked pears in puff pastry

Serves: 4
Ingredients
  • 4 pears cored and peeled (you can use any pears )
  • 1 sheet puff pastry dough, thawed
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 cups sugar
  • ½ lemon
  • 1 vanilla bean, seeded with hull reserved
  • 3 sticks of cinnamon
  • 1 egg for egg wash
  • Chocolate sauce:
  • 200ml double cream
  • 200g dark chocolate, chopped (60% cocoa)
Instructions
  1. Directions:
  2. Heat the water, sugar, vanilla bean in, lemon and cinnamon in a medium saucepan over low heat until the sugar is melted.
  3. Add the pears, when the sugar has melted and cook for 10-20 minutes or until the pears are tender. remove the pears from the saucepan with a spoon and set aside to cool on kitchen paper.
  4. Pre-heat oven to 280F (140 degrees C) .
  5. Cut the puff pastry dough into thin strips and Beginning at the bottom, wrap pears with pastry strips until you reach the top overlapping the edges slightly.
  6. Place the wrapped pears onto a baking sheet and brush them with egg wash.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven at 280F for 10-15 minutes or until the pastries are golden brown..
  8. Chocolate sauce:
  9. To make the chocolate sauce, heat the cream over a gentle heat just do not allow the cream to boil.
  10. Remove from heat and add the chocolate
  11. Mix until melted .
  12. Drizzle the chocolate sauce over the wrapped pears just before serving. Enjoy!
